Getting the Best from St. Ives If you happen to be visiting St. Ives, be sure not to miss the changing moods of the scenery...
On the harbour, 7.30am, the sun is just peeping through the clouds, which lights the whole bay and bathes it in this glorious glow! Maybe then a walk to the old pier; this can be found next to Smeatons Pier, where once tall cargo ships laden with goods and sailors would have stopped here on the old wooden pier, which has since long gone, albeit the stumps which can be seen at low tide...
From there we walk to the island where you can find beautiful views over two beaches...
Walking past the Tate Gallery and on up the hill, you can join the coastal path. This is the Clodgy, also known as the St. Ives to Land’s End coastal path...
Then back to St. Ives, tired and ready for some great food at one of the many restaurants the town has to offer, and beautiful views over the harbour at night... Story and photography by Genese Savage |
