What is There to Do?

Cornwall has always catered well for its visitors, but now is experiencing a boom of high quality establishments that meet the needs of international travelers and day trippers alike. Especially since the Eden Project was set up, the standard of the county has risen and developed in whole new directions. There is a great deal of historical interest and heritage sites throughout the beautiful countryside, and, being surrounded by the unforgiving Atlantic, there is endless amounts of maritime history.

Make sure you have a look at our Great Gardens page, but do not forget to search the directory for the many other gardens and nurseries we are featuring. Shopping in Cornwall is full of unique experiences; from the windy streets of towns like St. Ives, to the high quality shops of the city of Truro, this county always surprises and satisfies. There is also a growing artistic community here. Cornwall has been a centre of the arts for many years, but now there are many new hubs of creative people emerging and developing. Places like St. Just and St. Agnes are bursting with arts and crafts, and there are also large exhibition spaces such as the Tate St. Ives and the Lemon Street Gallery in Truro.

There are also adventure parks, animal sanctuaries, farms and animal parks all geared up to entertain people, whatever the weather. Children will love attractions such as Holywell Bay Fun Park, Colliford Lake Park or Lappa Valley Railway; there is a plentiful supply of family friendly sites throughout the county. If you are traveling or sightseeing, you will pass attraction after attraction, and never have time to visit them all.

The wonderful, golden beaches are one of the main reasons Cornwall is such a popular holiday destination. They are well kept and range from having excellent facilities to being untouched. Surfing has taken off here in a very big way, as have many other watersports. The beaches are full of activity in the summer, and even in the winter the sea is full of surfers.
