Godolphin House, near Helston, is the place to be this Bank Holiday weekend. Set in the ancient and beautiful surroundings of this unspoilt, historic house, delicious food from selected Cornish producers will be on offer.

From fresh lobster, asparagus, veg, cheese, fudge, smoked foods, local meats, ice cream, preserves, bread, chocolates, organic ales and mead, game pies and much more, this is a great opportunity to help support local producers and take home some of the best food the county has to offer. ’Most of the produce is from this part of Cornwall and all producers are selected for the quality of their produce,’ says Joanne Schofield, organiser and daughter-in-law of the owner. ‘It’s about making good quality produce available to the public and helping raise awareness about what good food is all about.’ ‘The atmosphere is terrific; very relaxed and very much like a large, village fete – the way they used to be. With music, pony rides, plenty for children to do, good food to eat, banners flying and open lawns for picnics, it’s a perfect way to enjoy a day in the country.’

There has been a great interest at previous food markets from restauranteurs, owners of guest houses and hotels. Many chefs feature locally sourced produce on their menus and the Good Food Market is a perfect opportunity to speak with the producers and see what’s on offer.

The Good Food Market is held on Sunday 6th and Monday th May from 10am to 5pm (rain or shine).
