Three local artists will be exhibiting their work at Mary Newman’s Cottage in Culver Road, Saltash, in September as part of the 'Drawn To The Valley Open Studios’ project.

The exhibition at the 15 th century cottage runs from Saturday 2nd to Sunday 10th September from10.30am to 4.30pm daily and provides a rare opportunity to meet with the artists and to discuss all aspects of their work with them.

Gay Kent experiments with a variety of print-making techniques - monoprint, etching, collograph and silk screen. Working in a spontaneous and intuitive way is very important to her. Stephanie Fraser's work reflects her interest in dance and movement using oil on canvas and print making. Both completed their BA in Fine Art at Falmouth College of Art. Gabrielle Goodchild studied art at Plymouth University, and has a particular interest in the discipline of art therapy. This year, Gabrielle has been drawing out of doors, in her garden or the lanes near her home. Back in the studio, she makes paintings and etchings based on the 'calligraphy' found in the drawings.

The Tamar Protection Society (TPS), who manage the cottage, are looking to broaden the range of events held there. Kevin Procter of the TPS said: “The Open Studios project allows everyone access to art in an informal setting and the cottage lends itself well to an event such as this. We are sure that we can make the week a success for everyone involved. And who wouldn’t be inspired to paint or sketch the magnificent view across the River Tamar and the Royal Albert and Tamar bridges from the garden?
