Breast Cancer - McMillan Support and Local Charities
31st May 2008
A 5k fun run/health walk and a 10k challenge cup road race hosted by the PCSO starting at the Playing Fields. A marquee is to be set up for registration and craft fair. After the run we will be selling refreshments, and issuing certificates. A tabletop sale/ craft fair/boot sale with local people benefiting and supporting the charities will also be held in the marquee and hopefully massage therapies and a bigger than ever family fun day will be in operation throughout the day.
Two of our local pubs, are hosting evening events. It is also planned for a motorbike Raleigh to be held the morning after on the 1st June in and around the village also raising money for our cause.
Local Radio, TV and Newspaper will be present report on our event and are also helping us market our day (page 18 local Guardian 24th March our first press release).
The fun run/walk will hopefully encourage people to the village to enjoy their day out and stay in the village for evening events. As well as raise money for Breast Cancer, Macmillan Support, local charities, local clubs.
The day is looking to be a success with many people traveling a good distance to support the charity event, many of which have health issues. Villagers and local clubs have shown an interest and the event has not been properly marketed yet. You could even enter yourself/organisation for the Walk/run. The Army and Navy have even shown a keen interest in entering teams as well as surf clubs and gig rowers. We are hoping for at least 1,000 entrants to participate women men and children.
